The Gender Self-Learning Program (GSLP) is a capacity-building initiative aimed at raising gender
awareness
among women in Self-Help Groups (SHGs). It focuses on educating SHG members, Gender Point Persons
(GPPs),
and Community Resource Persons cum Community Mobilizers (CRP-CMs) about gender rights, entitlements, and
strategies for addressing gender-based violence. Using a Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC)
approach, the program provides training modules on gender laws and programs at SHG and Cluster Level
Forum
(CLF).
The GSLP includes 4 modules (13 topics) based on vulnerability mapping findings from a 2020 pilot. This used to be conducted in a cascade model: such as the PCI India team trains DLTs and BLTs (District/Block-level trainers), who then train CRP-CMs and Master Book-keepers (MBKs) at the block level, followed by CRP-CMs lead sessions in SHG meetings, reaching 10-12 SHG members. PCI supports this training with audiovisual materials, leaflets, posters, and handouts to facilitate effective delivery.
